Targeted Advertising: Good or evil? by A Trivial Knot on Freethought Blogs

Never mind the title, this is more of a collection of thoughts about how Social Media makes its money, the effects of advertising, and if there is a better way. The author notes that his personal feelings are influenced by his lack of interest in privacy, but he understands that many people value it highly.

The post by its own admission raises many questions without providing any answers. I did find it interesting, but my attention was admittedly drawn mostly by a mention of the late and lamented Cohost.
